2. HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS |
|
This material may contain up to 20% quartz (CAS# 14808-60-7)
by weight. Measurements show that the amount of respirable crystalline
silica (< 10um) is approximately 7% by weight. |
|
OSHA PEL: |
10 mg/m3
(%SiO2+2)
|
ACGIH TLV: |
0.1 mg/m3 |
|
This mineral sample contains a small amount of
naturally-occurring crystalline silica as a quartz. IARC, in Monograph 42,
has concluded that there is "limited evidence" of the carcinogenicity of
crystalline silica to humans. Applications data indicate that exposure to
respirable quartz in this product with normal use is well below the OSHA
Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) and the ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV).
Therefore, this material is considered NOT HAZARDOUS. |
|
*OSHA Hazards Communication Standard requires labeling of
materials containing > 0.1% crystalline silica. |
